ALL ABOUT JOYCE

I set up this Blog to share the experience of designing a tree for Festival of Trees and also to have the family be a part of the tree by helping donate. Any little bit helps. All donations will go straight to decorating the tree, any left over will be donated to Primary Children's Hospital. The main Donor to our tree will be listed as "The Dibble Family" along with "Friends of Festival". I have helped set up and design two previous trees for the Festival of Trees in past years. We are thrilled to do it again, especially knowing that the tree will be dedicated to our sweet JOYCE. The group I am designing with includes my best friend Mandi Arrington, her sister and also my friend Jenilyn Drummond and Jody Nice who is Mandi's sister inlaw. This will be their fourth year. I am thrilled to be a part.

Dedication

The JOYCE of Paper

Joyce Elsie Dibble was born February 22, 1952 to Frances and Wallace Reid Dibble in Salt Lake City Utah. Grandma and Grandpa Dibble raised Joyce with Down Syndrome, her whole life they took care of her, until Grandpa passed away and Grandma could no longer care for her needs. Joyce’s sister Barbara, with the help of family, took Joyce into her home at that time until Joyce’s medical needs got to the point where she needed to be monitored. Joyce is now living in a rest home at the age of 58. And not a day goes by where her family does not think about her. She is a strong willed wonderful person. Grandpa called her his beautiful angel. She is here on this earth to teach us all. We have learned a lot from her. Growing up Joyce was fun and very active. She loved school at one point in her life.

Joyce has many favorite things: Her favorite colors are pink and red, yellow and blue are okay, but don’t you dare wear anything with green. Joyce hates green. We were told it is from the greenish Monkeys from the Wizard of OZ, somehow it ties back to that. Joyce loves beautiful people, she loves movie stars. She also loves cowboys. Joyce collects school papers, folders and pretty cards with the envelope. When we would go visit her she would ask for a school paper from you and she wouldn’t let you go until you gave her one. She used to line her papers up evenly on her bedroom floor. Not one paper out of place, not one paper crooked. Her floor would be covered in paper. She even had her favorite pieces of paper and she would want you to read them over and over to her, and look at them all with her. She loves to color with markers. She would write her name over and over.

We love our Joyce, we will always remember those fun times at Grandma and Grandpa Dibble’s house. We will remember Joyce and her sweet smile. We will remember the love and care Grandma and Grandpa showed Joyce all those many years. This tree is dedicated to Joyce because we love her.
