ALL ABOUT JOYCE

I set up this Blog to share the experience of designing a tree for Festival of Trees and also to have the family be a part of the tree by helping donate. Any little bit helps. All donations will go straight to decorating the tree, any left over will be donated to Primary Children's Hospital. The main Donor to our tree will be listed as "The Dibble Family" along with "Friends of Festival". I have helped set up and design two previous trees for the Festival of Trees in past years. We are thrilled to do it again, especially knowing that the tree will be dedicated to our sweet JOYCE. The group I am designing with includes my best friend Mandi Arrington, her sister and also my friend Jenilyn Drummond and Jody Nice who is Mandi's sister inlaw. This will be their fourth year. I am thrilled to be a part.

How we named the tree

We all know Joyce loves papers. School papers, blue work papers specifically from me, and yellow school papers from Mandi. Folders to put her papers in were essential.
Well, as we sat down to name the tree after we had decided to dedicate the tree to Joyce. The girls asked me what Joyce was like and what did she like, what were her favorite things. I thought about how stubborn Joyce is. Okay that won't work how about how joyful, and playful. Then I named off the things she likes.
Paper was the first thing that came to mind, then movie stars, cowboys, and horses, dolls and barbies. The colors pink, and red accompanied by yellow and blue. No green, absolutely no green. Hmm, she loved to write her name over and over. She loved pretty cards too with the matching envelope. She really loves papers. All those folders and papers lined up in her room not one was crooked. And if you bumped one she would have to fix it. She had her favorite papers too. Man if you brought the right paper one week you were her favorite person for the next couple weeks!
We came to the conclusion that the name had to include paper. It brings joy to Joyce for some reason. We brainstormed for a while and finally came up with, "THE JOYCE OF PAPER" it just fits.
We are determined to incorporate paper as much as we can throughout the tree. ModgePodge, crepe paper flowers etc. Jody had an Idea to lay out reams of colorful paper underneath the tree. It will be fun. I will update with more ideas.
